Advancing Smart City Development at MBIP with Interactive Kiosk Technology

Client : Iskandar Puteri City Council (MBIP) | Project Date : 01-Oct-2024

The Majlis Bandaraya Iskandar Puteri (MBIP) has taken another strategic leap toward digital transformation by integrating the FLR103-55” Interactive Kiosk into its event operations. As part of Johor’s larger smart city ambitions, this move enhances citizen interaction, public service delivery, and community engagement. This initiative demonstrates MBIP’s continued commitment to embracing modern technology to serve the growing needs of its residents and stakeholders.

Historical Growth and Urban Evolution

Originally established as the Johor Bahru District Council in 1978, the council’s jurisdiction has expanded significantly in line with Johor Bahru Tengah’s development. By incorporating key residential zones such as Taman Daya, Taman Megah Ria, and Bandar Baru Kota Puteri, the governing area increased to 303.48 square kilometers. Continued urbanization and the establishment of Nusajaya (now Iskandar Puteri) further increased the coverage to 560.71 square kilometers as of the end of 2015. Iskandar Puteri, a vital component of Johor’s economic corridor, has attracted substantial investments and become a strategic growth engine for southern Malaysia. The official proclamation of city council status in 2017, graced by His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar, underscored the region’s prominence and potential.

Deploying the FLR103-55” Interactive Kiosk for Public Use

In conjunction with its smart city vision, MBIP procured the FLR103-55” Interactive Kiosk to support digital engagement during public events. This 55-inch high-definition display system is built for immersive user interaction in high-traffic environments. Its touch-responsive interface provides easy access to multimedia content, event schedules, maps, and promotional materials—making it a highly effective tool for improving the attendee experience at city events and exhibitions. The kiosk’s large format ensures visibility and readability even in brightly lit areas, while its sleek and durable build supports frequent use across various venues. MBIP’s investment in this interactive technology highlights the council’s readiness to adopt scalable tools that support real-time information dissemination and interactive urban experiences.

Enhancing Visitor Experience and City Branding

The interactive kiosk not only improves informational access but also enhances the perception of Iskandar Puteri as a progressive, citizen-friendly city. By providing event attendees with an intuitive, self-service solution, MBIP ensures that city-hosted activities are more organized, efficient, and interactive. Customizable and versatile, the FLR103-55” kiosk can be tailored to suit a wide range of content requirements. This flexibility makes it ideal for delivering multilingual content, facilitating virtual tours, hosting feedback surveys, and offering real-time updates—all within a single integrated interface.

Supporting Smart City Infrastructure

MBIP’s adoption of the interactive kiosk aligns with broader smart city frameworks that prioritize the use of digital technologies to enhance urban quality of life. By leveraging the FLR103-55”, MBIP is laying the groundwork for a more connected, data-driven public space infrastructure that can evolve alongside citizen needs. As digital public kiosks become more integrated into city planning, they will enable more dynamic communication between local authorities and residents. This fosters greater civic participation, transparency, and inclusivity—key tenets of smart city development.
