Temperature Scanner Solution – Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM)
Client: Perpustakaan Sultan Abdul Samad (PSAS)
About Our Solution
Our Temperature Scanner Solution is an intelligent, Linux-based system designed to deliver real-time, non-contact temperature screening with integrated facial recognition technology. At the core of this system is the ARV FS01, a high-performance device engineered for speed, accuracy, and seamless integration with access control gates and attendance systems.
The ARV FS01 goes beyond standard temperature detection. It functions as a complete personnel access management solution, capable of identifying individuals—with or without face masks—capturing their body temperature instantly, and determining access eligibility based on pre-set rules. This intelligent screening process enhances operational efficiency while maintaining strict compliance with health protocols.
Built on a stable Linux operating system, the ARV FS01 ensures rapid system boot-up, high detection accuracy, and low latency performance. Combined with its bundled software, the system allows for centralized monitoring, real-time alerts, detailed reporting, and long-term data storage. It is designed for use in high-traffic public spaces such as corporate buildings, universities, hospitals, transportation terminals, hotels, schools, and government institutions—anywhere where safe and automated entry control is essential.
Project Background
In response to the growing demand for safe entry protocols and effective crowd screening, Perpustakaan Sultan Abdul Samad (PSAS), the main library of Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), engaged us to deliver and commission an automatic temperature scanner system. This was part of a broader initiative to safeguard the health of UPM’s academic community, particularly in light of increased awareness around infectious disease control and public health monitoring.
As part of this project, the following items were supplied and commissioned:
-
1 unit of ARV FS01 – Non-Contact Thermal Temperature Scanner with Face Recognition
-
Bundled Monitoring Software – For real-time tracking, data logging, alerts, and reporting
This system now enables automated, contactless temperature screening at key entry points, helping ensure a safe and efficient flow of users into the library premises while reducing the burden on manual screening staff.
Client Overview: Perpustakaan Sultan Abdul Samad (PSAS)
The Sultan Abdul Samad Library (PSAS) is the main academic library of Universiti Putra Malaysia, one of Malaysia’s premier public research universities. Located at the main campus in Serdang, PSAS comprises two semi-detached building blocks covering a total floor area of approximately 19,007 square meters, and is capable of accommodating over 2,000 users simultaneously.
To support the diverse information needs of UPM’s growing population of students, faculty, and researchers, PSAS operates four specialized branch libraries:
-
Library of Medicine and Health Sciences
-
Library of Veterinary Medicine
-
Library of Engineering & Architecture
-
Library of Bintulu Campus (Sarawak)
Additionally, PSAS houses Anjung Siswazah, a specially designated space for postgraduate students. Located in Block B, this area provides a quiet, academic-focused environment tailored for advanced learning and research.
Due to its high user traffic and importance as a central knowledge hub, the installation of an intelligent health screening system was a crucial upgrade for PSAS—enhancing its ability to monitor health compliance while maintaining a positive user experience.
Outcome and Benefits
The implementation of the ARV FS01 Temperature Scanner System at PSAS has delivered numerous operational and safety advantages:
-
Contactless, real-time temperature screening for safer, faster entry
-
Automated attendance tracking integrated with access control gates
-
Instant alerts for abnormal temperatures, allowing proactive action
-
Data logging and reporting features for compliance and analysis
-
Enhanced safety confidence among library users, staff, and management
This deployment supports UPM’s broader goal of embracing technological innovation, ensuring that its facilities remain not only modern and efficient but also safe and resilient in the face of emerging health concerns. The Temperature Scanner Solution has become a vital part of PSAS’s daily operations, reinforcing its reputation as a forward-thinking academic institution.
